MPHdance offers classes in Classical Ballet, creative movement, choreography and improvisation for young dancers. Our mission is to teach sound technique, offering the young dancer a foundation for creative expression.
Mary Paula Hunter founded MPHdance (formerly esb) in 1999 and has been teaching, guiding, and mentoring young dancers ever since. She is the Artistic Director of JUMP!, an active choreographer, and 2014 Pell Award winner. She's twice won the RISCA Fellowship in Choreography and has performed throughout the US and NYC.

The basis for our approach to teaching dance can be found in this class for 3 to 5 year olders. Dancers are encouraged to discover, expand, and edit their movement style through creative dramatics and improvisation. Stories, music (classical and jazz), and visual arts are at the root of the structured and free-form improvisation.
We teach Classical Ballet as a science and as a tool for expression. Dance students study this ever-evolving technique methodically, with attention to proper placement. The result is a a fluid and dynamic command of the vocabulary in all its variety. Musicality is stressed as well as a command of style, both historic and contemporary.
Levels of Ballet: Student age depends on background. Here is a general guide:
Ballet I: 6-7; Ballet II: 7-9; Ballet III: 10-12: Ballet IV: 12 and up
